2. The information we collect

We collect only what we need to match the correct wipers, process and deliver orders, support customers, keep Wiperz secure and improve the service.

Information you give us

Identity and contact details, including your name, billing and delivery address, email address and telephone number.

Order and account details, including products purchased, order history, returns, refunds, saved vehicles and account preferences.

Vehicle details, including a registration number, make, model, year, variant and the wipers matched to that vehicle.

Payment and transaction details. Payments are handled by our payment providers. We do not normally receive or retain your complete card number.

Communications with us, including emails, telephone calls, WhatsApp or other support messages, reviews, survey answers and information you provide when asking for help.

Marketing preferences, including whether you want to receive emails, SMS, WhatsApp messages or reminders, and how you interact with them.

Optional information you choose to save, such as an NCT or MOT date, replacement reminder date, additional family vehicles or fitting preferences.

If you provide another person's name, address, vehicle or contact details, you must have their permission to give those details to us.

You may browse the website without giving us account or order details. We need the information marked as required at checkout to process and deliver an order. If you do not provide it, we may not be able to complete the purchase or provide the requested feature.

Information collected automatically

Technical information, such as IP address, browser, device, operating system, approximate location, language, time zone and identifiers used by cookies or similar technologies.

Website activity, such as pages viewed, searches, registration lookups, products considered, links clicked, cart activity, referral source and checkout activity.

Security and diagnostic information used to prevent fraud, keep the website secure and diagnose errors.

Information received from others

We may receive information from vehicle-data and registration-lookup providers, payment providers, fulfilment partners, couriers, marketing and analytics services, fraud-prevention providers, social platforms, review services and other partners that help us provide Wiperz.

When you enter a vehicle registration, our providers return vehicle information needed to identify compatible wipers. We do not use the registration lookup to obtain the registered keeper’s name or home address.

3. How and why we use your information

Data protection law requires us to have a lawful reason for each use of personal information. We rely on the following grounds.

To provide the service and fulfil our contract

Match your vehicle with compatible wipers.

Process payment, confirm and deliver an order.

Operate your account, annual renewal and saved-vehicle features.

Send service messages, including order, delivery, annual renewal and fitting information.

Handle cancellations, returns, refunds, guarantees and customer support.

To comply with legal obligations

We use and retain information where necessary for tax, accounting, consumer-protection, product-safety, customs, fraud-prevention, data-protection and other legal obligations, and to respond to lawful requests from regulators, courts or public authorities.

For our legitimate interests

Where our interests do not override your rights and the use is proportionate, we may use information to:

secure our website, accounts and transactions and prevent fraud or misuse;

manage stock, fulfilment, customer service and business performance;

understand how customers use Wiperz and improve our products, fitment data, website and communications;

keep appropriate records, establish or defend legal claims and manage complaints;

ask for feedback about a purchase or customer-service interaction; and

send limited marketing about similar Wiperz products where electronic-marketing law permits and you have not opted out.

You may object to processing based on legitimate interests. We will consider your request and stop unless we have a compelling lawful reason to continue.

With your consent

We rely on consent where required, including for marketing emails or messages and for non-essential cookies or similar tracking technologies. You can withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.

Vehicle matching and automated processing

Our systems use the vehicle information returned from a registration lookup or selected by you to identify compatible Wiperz products and fitting guidance. This is automated matching, but it does not make a decision that produces legal or similarly significant effects about you. If the result looks wrong, contact us and we will check it.

4. Marketing

We send product information, replacement reminders, offers or useful visibility content by email, SMS, WhatsApp or similar channels only where the law allows it. This may be because you consented or, for existing customers, because the law permits marketing about similar Wiperz products and you were given a clear chance to opt out.

You can stop marketing at any time. Use the unsubscribe link in an email, follow the instructions in a message, change your account preferences or contact us. We will honour the request and may keep only a minimal suppression record so we do not contact you again. Essential messages about an order, annual renewal, delivery, product-safety issue or account are not marketing and may still be sent when needed.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

5. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies, pixels, local storage and similar technologies to operate the website, remember choices, keep accounts and checkout secure, measure performance and, where you agree, personalise advertising.

Strictly necessary technologies may operate without consent where permitted by law. Analytics, advertising and other non-essential technologies will be used only in line with the choices available through our cookie banner. You can accept, reject or change non-essential cookie choices at any time using the “Cookie preferences” link on the website.

Our Cookie Policy and cookie-preference panel give current details of the technologies we use, their purposes, providers and duration.

6. Who we share information with

We share only what is reasonably necessary with trusted organisations that help us operate Wiperz, including:

Shopify and connected ecommerce providers that host and operate the store, checkout and customer accounts;

vehicle-registration, vehicle-catalogue and fitment-data providers, including Cartell, Benchmark and TecAlliance, where used for a lookup or match;

payment processors, banks, fraud-prevention and transaction providers;

annual renewal and customer-account providers, including Appstle where enabled;

email, messaging and customer-relationship providers, including Klaviyo and our WhatsApp service provider where enabled;

Meteor Space, Canary7, packaging providers, couriers and delivery partners involved in storing, picking, packing, delivering or returning an order;

analytics, advertising, review, survey and website-support providers, but only in line with applicable consent requirements;

professional advisers, including accountants, auditors, insurers, solicitors and technology or security advisers;

regulators, tax authorities, law-enforcement bodies, courts or other authorities where disclosure is required or permitted by law; and

a buyer, investor or adviser involved in a proposed sale, restructuring, investment or transfer of all or part of Wiperz, subject to appropriate confidentiality and legal safeguards.

Some providers process information only on our instructions. Others, such as payment providers and couriers, may decide for themselves how they use information for parts of their service. Their own privacy notices may also apply.

7. International transfers

Wiperz is based in Ireland and serves customers in Ireland and the United Kingdom. Some service providers or their support teams may process information outside the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, including in Canada, the United States or other countries.

Where required, we use recognised safeguards such as an adequacy decision, approved binding corporate rules, the European Commission's standard contractual clauses, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or UK Addendum, together with additional security measures where appropriate. Contact us if you would like more information or a copy of the relevant safeguards, subject to lawful redactions.

8. How long we keep information

We keep personal information only for as long as needed for the purpose collected, including legal, accounting, security and dispute-resolution requirements. Our intended retention periods are:

Orders, payments, invoices, refunds and tax records: normally six years after the end of the relevant financial year, and up to seven years where needed for the applicable accounting, tax or legal period.

Accounts, saved vehicles and annual renewals: while the account or annual-renewal arrangement remains active and normally up to three years after the last meaningful activity, unless you ask us to delete them sooner and no legal reason requires retention.

Customer-service records and ordinary complaints: normally two years after the matter is closed; longer where needed for a guarantee, dispute or legal claim.

Marketing records: until you unsubscribe or withdraw consent. We may retain a minimal suppression record so that we remember not to contact you again.

Marketing contacts with no meaningful engagement: normally reviewed and removed or anonymised after 24 months.

Incomplete carts and checkout records: normally up to 90 days, unless they become part of an order or another lawful retention period applies.

Security, access and diagnostic logs: normally up to 12 months, unless an incident or investigation requires longer retention.

Cookie and similar identifiers: for the period shown in the cookie-preference panel or Cookie Policy.

We may retain information for longer where required by law, where a dispute or investigation is ongoing, or where necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. When information is no longer required, we delete it or anonymise it so it can no longer identify you.

9. How we protect information

We use technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect personal information. These include access controls, carefully selected service providers, encryption in transit, account and payment security controls, backups, monitoring and procedures for responding to suspected incidents.

No internet or storage system is completely secure. If you believe your account or information may be at risk, contact us promptly.

10. Your rights

Depending on the circumstances and the law that applies, you may have the right to:

ask for access to your personal information and a copy of it;

ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information;

ask us to delete information in certain circumstances;

ask us to restrict how information is used;

object to processing based on legitimate interests or to direct marketing;

receive certain information in a portable, machine-readable format or ask us to send it to another provider;

withdraw consent at any time where processing relies on consent; and

complain to a data-protection authority.

These rights are not absolute. For example, we may need to retain transaction information for tax or legal purposes even if you close your account.

To exercise a right, contact us using the relevant privacy email above. Tell us what you would like us to do. You do not have to use a particular form. We may ask for information reasonably needed to verify your identity and protect your account. We normally respond within one month. The law allows extra time for a complex request or several requests, and we will tell you if that applies.

11. Complaints

If you are concerned about how we use your information, contact us first. We will acknowledge and investigate a data-protection complaint and explain the outcome and any action taken.

In Ireland or elsewhere in the EEA, you may complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission or to the supervisory authority where you live, work or believe an infringement occurred.

If you are in the United Kingdom, you may complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

12. Children

Wiperz is intended for adults buying vehicle products. We do not knowingly invite children to create accounts or receive marketing. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can review it and delete it where appropriate.

13. Third-party websites and services

Our website may link to third-party websites, platforms or services. Their privacy practices are controlled by them, not Wiperz. Check their privacy information before providing personal information.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our services, providers or legal obligations change. We will publish the updated version on the website and change the date below. If a change materially affects how we use your information, we will provide an additional notice where required.
