How to Remove Your Volvo Wipers - Service Mode

Applies to: XC40 (2017+), XC60 (2018+), XC90 (2015+), V60 (2018+), V90 (2016+), S60 (2019+), S90 (2016+)

On many Volvo models, the wipers park beneath the bonnet edge. Do not force the arms upwards. Put them into service mode first, then they are easy to reach.

How to Activate Volvo Wiper Service Mode

  1. Turn your car on, then immediately turn it off.
  2. Push the wiper stalk UP and hold it in position. The wipers will lift from beneath the bonnet to a vertical service position. This usually takes 3 to 5 seconds.
  3. You can now change the blades.
  4. To lower the wipers again, turn the car on and activate the wipers once.

Just one quick check

Volvo's Pilot Assist and other driver assistance systems do not interfere with the wiper service mode sequence. If the car has active safety systems enabled they will not activate during the service mode process.

Make Sure the Blades Fit

Wiper sizes and fittings can change between versions of the same model. Enter your registration and we'll match your car with the correct front and rear blades.

We’ll also send the fitting video and any service-mode steps your car needs. Open the box and you’re ready to go.
