How to Remove Your Subaru Wipers - Service Mode

Applies to: Outback (2020+), Forester (2019+), XV/Crosstrek (2017+), Impreza (2017+), Legacy

On many Subaru models, the wipers park beneath the bonnet edge. Do not force the arms upwards. Put them into service mode first, then they are easy to reach.

How to Activate Subaru Wiper Service Mode

  1. Turn your car off.
  2. Within 10 seconds, pull the wiper stalk towards you to the wash position and hold for about 3 seconds.
  3. The wipers should move to a more accessible position for blade replacement.
  4. You can now change the blades.
  5. To return: turn the car on and activate the wipers once.

Just one quick check

Some Subaru models, particularly earlier Forester and Outback variants, have wipers that rest on the glass and can be lifted directly without any service mode activation. If your Subaru's wipers are visible and accessible simply lift the wiper arm away from the windscreen with the car off. Enter your registration at wiperz.ie for confirmation of the correct process for your specific model and year.

Make Sure the Blades Fit

Wiper sizes and fittings can change between versions of the same model. Enter your registration and we'll match your car with the correct front and rear blades.

We’ll also send the fitting video and any service-mode steps your car needs. Open the box and you’re ready to go.
