On many Mercedes-Benz models, the wipers park beneath the bonnet edge. Do not force the arms upwards. Put them into service mode first, then they are easy to reach.
How to Activate Mercedes-Benz Wiper Service Mode
Models from 2015 onwards with Keyless Start
- Switch the auto wiper setting to manual mode using the wiper stalk.
- Turn your car off.
- Immediately press and hold the WASHER BUTTON (the button or stalk that activates the windscreen washer fluid) until the wipers move to the service position.
- You can now change the blades.
- To return: turn the car on and activate the wipers normally.
Older models (pre-2015) with Key Ignition
- Switch the auto wiper setting to manual mode using the wiper stalk.
- Turn your car off.
- Immediately pull and hold the wiper stalk for 3 to 5 seconds until the wipers move to service position.
- You can now change the blades.
- To return: activate wipers normally.
Just one quick check
The critical step on newer Mercedes models is using the washer button rather than the wiper stalk. Many owners instinctively reach for the wiper stalk — on models from 2015 onwards this will not trigger the sequence. Look for the washer button on your stalk or dashboard.
